The new dog park opened in January, 2009 with Commissioners Corey Smith and Joe Bowles; Mayor Deke Copenhaver was awarded the honor of throwing the first tennis ball to his dogs Gracie Lynn and Finn. PKP pups and their owners enjoy events such as Barktoberfest and Woofstock where pooches have an opportunity to don costumes and play doggie games such as “elimination sit” for prizes.
